It took me a while to take out all the other stuff I had in mind for this outdoor still life...I realized all I needed was the empty pot and the flowering plants. While painting “Dreaming of Windflowers” I could reach out and trail my hand delicately over the floating blossoms at arm’s length. The painting is about the light floaty quality of the flowers echoing the dappled light, while the pot, which is made from the earth itself, mimics the gravity and steadiness of the earth. It is not a vista but a contemplation of beauty right at our feet... so intimate. It gave me hope. My neighbor cried when she came out and saw me painting... challenging times...but so much beauty.(August 2020 entirely plein air)
