This is a Christmas Hellebores. I placed it on the rock outside our house. Next to it I placed the old metal water trough our bees drink out of. It was freezing outside ...the flowers froze, I froze, the water in the trough froze. The sight of the Hellebores in the snow made all the longing in my heart grow. I love the plate, the rock, the brush (my 90 year old neighbor gave it to me before she died). Such a marvel, I am so grateful to have painted this. (entirely plein air Dec. 2020)
