Doorways tell a story. Whether graffiti-covered by kids telling the world, “I matter,” or beautifully painted by an artist, these people put their mark on the world, reminding us, “This defines me.” Having lived in Rome, Italy for 6 months a year until the age of twelve, I have always been drawn to all the art and architecture the city has to offer. I am interested in the way contemporary creative expression is juxtaposed against baroque or medieval architecture. I am drawn to the graffiti doorways of Trestevere and wanted to capture the energy and life they express and contemplate how they relate to me… in my own search for who I am and what mark I will leave on the world.
