Longing

When I visited Catalina a few years ago, the island was recovering from the effects of a forest fire. Green life had yet to push through the blackened dirt and the hills lay desolate like smoked heaps of clay. Spring needed to come and water this place again. There is beauty in the dry, waiting season. A seed of hope lies under the soil’s surface. A hope that all will be made well again.
