Observing the Sunset

I have often painted Griffith Observatory on location but the rapid changes that happen during a sunset made me complete this painting in the studio. Striking color and the lights of Los Angeles in the distance all added to the mood and excitement from that evening. I remember parking down the hill and having to sprint up the road to get there in time to see this remarkable scene.
